David A. Renwick
Pastor / Head of Staff
Dr. David
Renwick (pronounced Rennick) has been our Pastor / Head of Staff
since August 2006.
Dr. Renwick is a graduate of Edinburgh Academy and St. Andrews
University, both in Scotland. He received his Master of Divinity from
Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in Boston, MA, and his Doctor of
Philosophy from Union Theological Seminary in Richmond, VA. He has served
churches in Canada, Virginia, Texas, and Kentucky. David and his wife, Currie, have three
grown children, Lalla, Charles, and Mairi. |

Associate Pastor of Education and Discipleship
Rev. Julie
Thompson was born and raised as an Episcopalian in Connecticut, then
later moved to northern Virginia and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She first
worshipped in a Presbyterian Church while a student at Miami University
in Oxford, Ohio, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Speech
Communication. She attended seminary "little by little" throughout a
decade of college and youth ministry, and the births of two of her three
children. She received her Master of Divinity from Pittsburgh Theological
Seminary, with coursework from Gordon-Conwell and New York Theological
Seminaries. Julie has served congregations in Pennsylvania (Pittsburgh),
New York (Rye, Port Chester) and Connecticut (Old Greenwich). She began
as Associate Pastor here in August of 2005. Julie and her husband,
Daniel, a middle school science teacher and coach, have three children:
Sam, Claire, and Ellie.

Minister of Congregational Care and Deacons
Rev.
Susan Moorefield Newton joined our staff February 2008. Susan is a
graduate of Clinton High School, Presbyterian College, and Columbia
Seminary. She has previously served at Unity Presbyterian Church (Boiling
Springs), Nazareth Presbyterian Church (Moore), and Holy Communion
Lutheran Church (Spartanburg). She is a professional photographer and the
mother of two boys, David and John.

William L. Arthur (back to top)
Parish Associate
Dr. Bill Arthur joined our staff in February 2008 as Parish Associate.
Bill served First Presbyterian as Interim Head of Staff in 2002-2003. He
returns to us part-time. Bill and his wife, Susanne, reside in
Greenville.
