First Presbyterian Church Spartanburg
Palm Crosses

Palm Crosses created by First Presbyterian's Sanctuary Guild
Sanctuary Guild

The purpose of the Sanctuary Guild is to worship and glorify God by preserving the heritage and traditions of the Presbyterian Church through the decoration of our facilities and worship spaces to appropriately reflect the liturgical seasons of the year.  The guild also assists other church committees with selected celebrations and events.

Sanctuary Guild Committees

Candelabra:  Schedule and work with volunteers who install and remove the aisle candle holders for weddings and special services

Church Mice:  Straighten the pews after each Sunday worship service

Funeral:  Serve as greeters and guides in the church parlor on the day of a church funeral

Hospitality:  Answer the telephone on Sunday mornings and help decorate tables, supply baked items and serve for special church events

Needlepoint Project:  Commission, arrange funding, and provide painted canvases to be stitched by church members for use in our sacred spaces

Storage:  Periodically help clean out, straighten and maintain the many storage closets throughout the church

Wedding:  Serve as trained wedding directors or assistants for weddings in our church

Worship:  Hang paraments and pulpit bookmarks according to the church liturgical calendar and assist the worship committee with communion
