Representing God’s direction in the maze of our lives, walking the labyrinth offers time for prayer for our life journeys.
EASTER - April 4
The Annual Cross of Flowers
The Cross of Flowers is an annual Easter event at First Presbyterian. A rough-hewn cross is erected by the Sanctuary Guild on the Lawn of the church. Members and guests are invited to bring flowers or may use the flower provided to place on the cross as they come to worship on Easter. This cross, full of spring flowers, represents the new life we receive through Christ’s resurrection.
Flower Arrangements to Honor Loved Ones
Each year, Easter flower arrangements are made by the Sanctuary Guild with a variety of cut flowers and lilies to provide an opportunity for you to honor loved ones and friends in a commemorative booklet which will be available on Easter. Your contribution provides flowers and lilies in the sanctuary on Easter and help endow a special flower fund for floral arrangements throughout the year. Click here to download the order form. You may also order through registrations on My First Pres.
Annual Butterfly Release
On Easter Christians celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. At First Presbyterian Church, our celebration will include our annual Easter Butterfly Release at 10:40 a.m. on the Front Lawn.
Since ancient times, the butterfly has been a symbol that reminds us of the life, death, and resurrection of Christ. The caterpillar reminds us of Jesus’ life on earth. The dark chrysalis stage reminds us of Jesus’ crucifixion and death. After a time of struggle, the caterpillar transforms and emerges as a beautiful butterfly. This reminds us how Jesus rose from the dead and appeared to his followers with his new body after three days in the grave. The butterfly also reminds us of our final resurrection and eternal life, when we will all be changed. Click here to download the order form. You may also order through registrations on My First Pres.
