“Doors Open Wide” Stewardship Sunday:
Pledge Commitment Day
Sunday, November 8, 8:45 and 11:00 a.m.
We will ask each family to turn in their pledge card during this special time of worship. Your pledges are the fundamental guide the Session uses to determine our budget, and your timely commitment will help our church fulfill our mission as we move into 2010.
A Blessed Giver
Giving is always a personal matter. Acts of generosity and commitment well up from the deepest springs of our being. They reveal the kind of people we are, what we treasure, and what we truly believe. Thus the material, or the financial, is really profoundly spiritual. Our pledges indicate that we are opening the doors of our hearts to God’s richest blessings, not only for others, but for ourselves as well.
As you consider, or make your pledge, you might want to use this prayer with your family, or simply offer it by yourself.
Good and generous God, giver of life, beauty, love and opportunity,
open my heart and mind that I may know just how rich I am as your child.
Help me to breathe in your loving purpose for my life, to open my eyes to the beauty and wonder of life, and to know that you, alone, can meet my deepest needs.
I thank you for this opportunity to pledge my commitment to your church and to your kingdom.
I now offer my gifts and myself to you confident in your power to transform and use these gifts in glorious ways.
Bless this pledge in ways beyond my imagining; and bless those I love, and, yes, even me.
Through Jesus Christ, my Lord, I pray. Amen
