Interim Senior Pastor

The Interim Pastor Nominating Committee and the Session of First Presbyterian Church are pleased to announce that Dr. William P. Wood, formerly Senior Minister of the First Presbyterian Church of Charlotte, N.C. has accepted the position of Interim Pastor. His first Sunday will be November 6, 2011.

Bill is a graduate of Davidson College, Davidson, N.C. and Union Theological Seminary of Richmond, Virginia. He concluded his 27 year ministry at First Presbyterian Church of Charlotte in 2010. He previously served churches in San Antonio, Texas and Kingsport, Tennessee. He has been active in the life of the Presbyterian Church (USA) serving as the Moderator of Holston Presbytery and Charlotte Presbytery. In addition he has served as a member of the Board of Trustees of Davidson College and Union Theological Seminary in Virginia.

Bill has been a strong participant in many community activities in Charlotte. He has served as President of the Rotary Club of Charlotte and President of the Charlotte City Club. In addition he has served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Charlotte Center of Urban Ministry and as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the City of Charlotte/Mecklenburg County Public Library.

Please welcome Bill to our church family as he helps guide us to our next permanent Senior Pastor.
