First Presbyterian’s Men’s Ministries include a number of opportunities for fellowship, study, service, and spiritual development.
Mens’ Breakfasts are scheduled several times a year for fellowship and discussion.
The Men’s Bible Class meets in the Purnell Room each Sunday to study The Present Word Curriculum. Check First News for the weekly lesson title and teacher.
There are two Friday Men’s Study Groups that meet weekly. The 6:30 group is studying the book Genesis and meets in the Small Private Dining Room of the Family Life Center. The 7:00 a.m. group is studying Ordering Your Private World and meets at the Annex on Kennedy Street.
A Men’s Retreat is currently under consideration. If you are interested in such a retreat, please be sure to indicate that on the Education & Discipleship survey scheduled for the fall of 2009.
Opportunities for Service
Many First Presbyterian men serve the church as officers and as members of committees of the Session and Diaconate. They volunteer to help with Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Wednesdays at First, Children’s Worship, retreats, Advent and Christmas programs, Lent and Easter programs, and in congregational care ministries led by the Deacons. Some join the Ushers Guild, Sanctuary Guild and the Flower Guild. Check First News for information about upcoming volunteer opportunities.
For more information about programs for men, contact Jane Mullins (208-2139 (jmullins@fpcspartanburg.org).
