POVERTY
SPIHN (Spartanburg Interfaith Hospitality Network)
SPIHN hosts homeless families for a week, 4 times/year providing shelter, snacks and a meal in the evenings. To learn more about SPIHN, visit http://spihn.bellstrike.com/.
V Op: 45 min - overnight hours, any time during 4 yearly rotations.

Monthly Hunger Offering

The first Sunday of each month, Communion Sunday, baskets and jars are set out to collect food and money donations to be given directly to TOTAL Ministries.

V Op: Donate food and/or money to containers for TOTAL, help collect donation containers from around church
Mobile Meals
Each weekday approximately 150 generous members of our community dedicate their time to deliver a nutritious, hot meal to approximately 1,800 of frail and homebound throughout the Spartanburg region. Mobile Meals is much more than a meal. We provide nourishment for the mind, body and soul. Mobile Meals delivers love, compassion, and hope to those in need.

Winter Warmth

New coats from Belk are given to elementary age children in the fall.  Set up is on a Friday, and hand out is done on Saturday. Donations of new hats, gloves and scarves are also needed.

V Op: 1–4hrs, once a year

Total Ministries
Very close to our church we provide a number of services.  Our youth work there every Communion Sunday during the Sunday School Hour, and our Hunger Sunday offering goes to them.

Habitat for Humanity
Habitat builds and sells houses with no interest loans to families who qualify.  The Habitat Restore profits help fund the organization.  Volunteers are needed for the store and for construction.
V Op: 1–8 hrs, any time, or specifically during designated build days for the church

Christmas in Action
Fix up projects are 1st Saturday in October and April.
V Op: 2–8 hrs, once or twice a year

Miracle Hill Rescue Mission
Provides shelter and food for the homeless.
The Haven
Provides shelter for families and single women.
HEALING
Angel Tree
Gifts are bought for the children of incarcerated adults in December and delivered on Christmas Eve Day.
V Op: 30min–2 hrs, shopping for children’s gifts and/or delivering the gifts to homes
St. Luke's Free Medical Clinic
St. Luke’s Free Medical Clinic welcomes those willing to volunteer time and talent to our clinic. We have many areas of expertise comprising our team of volunteers.

V Op: Doctors, nurses, and dentists needed

Children's Advocacy Center
Provides Guardian ad litem training.

Children's Shelter of the Upstate
Provides immediate shelter.
SAFE Homes/Rape Crisis Coalition
Provides hotline training.
Thornwell Home for Children

Christmas gifts are collected at the annual White Gifts Service.

V Op: shop for gifts, once a year during Advent
Presbyterian Communities of SC
Visits are made to the home in Clinton, and an offering is taken on Mother’s Day.
V Op: 2–3 hrs, various occasions
Disaster Relief
An offering is taken in the fall called "One Great Hour of Sharing."
DRAT (Disaster Response Action Team)
Church readiness team for preparing the church facility to act as a shelter during disastrous weather or as needed.

Kairos Prison Ministry
Christian outreach to the incarcerated.
V Op: bake one dozen cookies and deliver to church, usually in the fall
MLK, Jr. Celebration
Prayer Shawl Ministry
Members of our church meet together twice a month to pray and to create beautiful shawls. The shawls are a physical reminder of God’s loving presence and of the church’s constant support to people who are in need of prayers. This is an amazing ministry of our church and a deep comfort to those who receive a prayer shawl.

PC (USA) Fund for Theological Education (10 seminaries)
Arcadia Outreach Ministry
Provides materials and help for one week in June for Vacation Bible School through Boys and Girls Club.
V Op: 2–4hrs, 1–5 days once a year, very flexible
Presbyterian Unified Funds
Each congregation is encouraged to take ownership of our Presbytery by visible acts of financial support.
Montreat
Each year, approximately 35,000 people visit Montreat Conference Center to reunite with family and friends, to attend conferences or church retreats, and to enjoy the breathtaking beauty of God’s creation.
The Shepherd’s Center
The Shepherd's Center offers bridge, cribbage, dance, singing, pinochle, creative writing, and lecture opportunities provided for the elderly. First Presbyterian provides space in the church for their operation.
